Fort Lauderdale Springbreak: Painful Beginnings

Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, what can I say but, “Sun, Sand and College Students”. Don’t get me wrong, Ft. Lauderdale has beautiful beaches, but I’m just not a beach person. I’m not even a summer person. My favorite season is fall. I love jackets and boots, cool temps and changing leaf colors, and plenty of warm beverages. But, my Lil’ Road Dog is the total opposite. Amarillo, TX: Part 1: Cadillac Ranch

Amarillo, TX pleasantly surprised me.  My short time there was quite enjoyable.  It is a city in the Texas Panhandle and is the perfect place to get a big taste of Texas even if you only have a small amount of time. The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum takes you to infinity and beyond. This mecca, of all things flight, educates and inspires future generations of pilots and astronauts from around the world. My lil’ road dog pilot-in-training loved it! The museum contains the largest and most significant collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world. All the components of human flight are on display. It showcases the amazing technological achievements that have progressed aviation and space exploration throughout the last century.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2017 was held in Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and required a special event ticket. Instead, I wore a Mickey black skeleton t-shirt, while he wore a grey BB8 one (which happens to be his favorite Star Wars character).

Washington, DC Getaway – Part 2

Our second and final day with Granny Duck had us all taking a morning tour of Artechouse’s exhibit, “Spirit of Autumn”.  Yet, this was not to happen at our scheduled 10am tour time. Instead, we were treated with the arrival of several firefighters. Apparently, someone’s car in the building’s garage caught on fire. This led to an all out evacuation of the building. So, no morning tour for us. The fire was eventually put out and people allowed back in. But, the exhibit officials needed time to air out the smoke smell. Therefore, we were given the option of a refund or re-booking. We opted for an afternoon re-booking, especially since Granny Duck was catching the train back to Virginia later that afternoon.
